MTN contributes six per cent of 2015 national revenue

cancom Limited, operators of MTN Ghana, last year, contributed six per cent of the national revenue, Mrs. Cynthia Lumor, the Corporate Services Executive of the telecommunication company, has announced.

The company paid GH¢ 675 million to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in income tax and GH¢ 43.7 million as charges to the National Communications Authority (NCA) and the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC).

Mrs. Lumor, who made this known when she interacted with journalists at a forum in Sunyani, said it additionally paid US$ 26.1 million surtax on Inbound International Traffic (SIIT).

MTN Ghana, she said had targeted to invest GH¢ 96 million in improving the quality of its network services.

In line with this, 475 “4G” sites would be rolled out across the nation to provide internet users with speed and quality internet services.

The company, which has more than 17 million subscribers has since year invested US$ 2.5 billion in network and information technology infrastructure and Mrs. Lumor said it would continue to put more into its operations to meet customer expectations and satisfaction.

She encouraged traders and businesses to take advantage of the MTN Mobile Money transfer, which she said was efficient, safe and convenient.
