MTN Ghana in partnership with the National Youth Authority (NYA) trained over 48 youth in livelihood skills for economic empowerment as part of their annual MTN 21 days of Y’ello Care celebration in the Northern region.
The three weeks training programme, which ended on Friday was to train the youth in beads making, cosmetology, which included makeup, manicure and pedicure and online digital marketing in web development.
Mr Kwami Aseye Akude, the Northern Regional Manager of MTN said the three weeks training programme which was held in Tamale as part of the MTN’s annual programme to serve the community, where the MTN Group operated from 1st to 21st June.
The event was on the theme “Creating a Brighter Future for our Youth” aimed that to empower youth entrepreneurship to promote the economic.
“It is important to empower the youth with employable skills because they are the backbone of the nation and they need the support of Corporate Ghana in that regard”. He said.
According to him, the training of the youth would help them to develop their own business and they would also transfer it to others.
Mr Bright Acheampong, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of NYA advised beneficiaries to make use of the internet, especially social media to market their products and services.
He said beneficiaries have been introducedto Mobile App programme as they acquired basic technical skills and confidence to develop, promote, and sell local and international products through the digital market platform.
According to him, as part of this programme, NYA also introduced Online Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship training to equip over 3000 youth, mostly the vulnerable with employable skills across the country.
The beneficiaries were given practical tools as part of the training package to help them establish their own business.
