MTN Ghana launches new affordable smart phone

MTN Ghana as part of its ‘Customer Year’ has once again launched a smart device to provide all customers the opportunity to enjoy faster internet coverage.

At an event held at the MTN House Thursday, April 25, 2019, to launch the new device, CEO of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh noted that this initiative is to ensure some level of parity between their customers.

He further expressed his delight at the new niche the company has carved for itself in the face of equally thriving competitors.

To them, this is a step backward to “gradually migrate entry level smartphone users to full smartphones and heavy data users over time”.

Announcing the introduction of the Smart S 3G phone, Selorm Adadevoh, added that it is a way of impacting the lives of the customers as well as making sure that everyone enjoys a dose of faster internet service, as it provides more opportunities for Ghanaians to fully utilize digital services at an affordable price.

“Our customers no longer need to worry about the cost when it comes to purchasing a data capable device,” he said.

He continued that, “most of our customers make decisions on purchasing devices by cost so you’d rather invest in a feature phone because it’s affordable and a smart phone isn’t. So we’re offering you a smart feature phone which is a price point in-between a feature phone and a smart phone.”

The new Smart S 3G phone runs on a KaiOS and has two cameras, a 2-day battery life with 2,000mAh battery, the SC7731EF processor, 2.4-inch screen, 256MB RAM and a 512MB of storage.

Meanwhile, the company remains optimistic that this new device would outlive its expectation. They also remain locked on migrating customers to a new level internet coverage.

This initiative comes just a few weeks after the company launched its 4G+ service to provide faster data speeds with widest coverage for its customers.
