Telecommunications Service Provider, MTN, has presented awards to its exceptional mobile financial services’ agents at the second edition of its Mobile Money Agents Awards Night.

The event, which celebrate Mobile Money agents in the Eastern, Volta, and Greater Accra regions who have demonstrated high levels of professionalism in executing their duties, forms part of MTN’s efforts to create an atmosphere that supports the growth and development of the mobile financial services sector in Ghana.

Speaking at the event, General Manager for Mobile Financial Services at MTN Ghana, Mr. Eli Hini said, the awards ceremony is in recognition of the role Mobile Money agents play to ensure good customer experience.

“This year, MTN mobile money has been recognised because of your hard work, and we have won many awards through our services. We want to dedicate this award to all of you and all our other stakeholders. We believe you will continue to work diligently to ensure that our customers will have good experiences and services. We celebrate you today for also showing leadership and integrity in your day to day activities”.

He also urged the agents to be detailed when filling out forms for new clients so the company will be able to protect and deliver better services. He asked agent to also stop charging unapproved fees.

“We need to remind you of your role as brand ambassador of the company, so your actions and inactions affect us. We have observed that some people charge unapproved fees and you must know that when you do that it makes the service expensive and push people to our competitors. We are also unconcern about the people who try to defraud our customers. The customers complain that they suspect some of us are involve in fraudulent activities and we believe that is not good for our brand. We need our customers to trust us because once trust is lost they will stop using our patronizing our services” he added.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh said he was optimistic of better years to come become the world was moving towards digitization.

“You may all have noticed that a lot of things are happening less by paper and more electronical. And to be able to facilitate electronic transactions, you need to have a way to facilitate payment. This makes MFS extremely important for where we are going not just as MTN but the telecommunication industry as a whole. There are several countries today that have made that jump towards digitization and the importance of payment platforms cannot be underestimated.“ He emphasized.

Winners at the awards ceremony took home prizes ranging from television sets, generator sets, mobile phones among others.

Criteria for the selection of winners included scanning for agents who have not indulged in fraudulent activities, agents who exhibit and provide customers with a good experience etc.

The event which took place at the Alisa Hotel in Accra was graced by dignitaries and prominent personnel from the country’s banking and finance sector.
