MTN Ghana adds insurance services to mobile money portfolio

MTN Ghana has partnered with Hollard Insurance and MFS Africa to launch “mi-life”, a life insurance policy, which MTN customers can subscribe to through mobile money services. Ghanaians can buy "mi-life" life insurance for GHS1 (US$0.66) to GHS5. The policy will cover two people - the holder and one next of kin – for respectively GHS500 to GHS2,000. In Feb-11, competitor Tigo also launched an insurance service, branded “Tigo Family care insurance”.
