The Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Dr. Smart Yeboah, says industries located in the industrial zones will not be affected by the power management (load shedding) exercise being carried out by the ECG as a result of the Gas supply problem to the Volta River Authority (VRA).
He said the exercise will affect commercial entities in the country.
He said this during a meeting by the PURC with stakeholders in the energy sector namely ECG, VRA, GRIDCO, Asogli and Energy Commission on the gas supply problem to VRA and how the situation could be managed.
Dr. Smart Yeboah said currently the ECG is continuing a load shedding programme already published before the gas supply shortage to VRA. He added that the ECG can only announce a new load management schedule when GRIDCO gives it information on the amount of power it can supply to ECG following the gas problem.
Nana Yaa Gyantuah Director of Public and External Affairs for PURC said the utility companies after this stakeholders meeting, will come out with a strategy to properly inform consumers about the power supply situation.
