The government has inaugurated a new Governing Board for the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX).
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony on August 12, 2025, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, charged the newly-constituted board to strengthen the Exchange’s mandate of directly connecting farmers with both local and international markets.
He also encouraged the board to expand the variety of commodities traded on the Exchange, emphasising the need for their operations to be rooted in good governance, accountability, and transparency.

The newly-appointed Board Chairperson, Nana Boadi Amponim Obadade III, pledged the board’s commitment to enhancing the operational efficiency and overall impact of the GCX.
