Last minute shopping at Ashiaman

A large number of residents of Ashaiman, on Christmas eve thronged shops and stalls in the Municipality to do last minute shopping for family and love ones.

The Ghana News Agency visited a number of shops and the major markets in the area where people were busily shopping for rice, vegetable oil, drinks and biscuits as the Christmas day draws near.

At the China Mall, a number of customers told the GNA that the prices of goods were affordable indicating that five kilos of Cindy rice was GH¢29.00, lele was GH¢47.00, magic good was also been sold at GH¢54.00, while Dior and sultana cost GH¢30 and GH¢48.00 respectively.

The mall had for sale various Christmas items including christmastree which price ranged from GH¢200.00 to Gh¢1,1750.00 depending on the size.

Cooking oil cost between GH¢49.00 and GH¢52.50 for five kilograms depending on the brand.

Christmas toys were also in abundance with price starting from as low as GH¢15.00, socks in the green and red colours of Christmas were also on display as well as drinks including coca cola, fanta and Sprite.

At the Ashiaman main market, the price of a local chicken was GH¢60.00, foreign fowl was also sold between GH¢40.00 and 50.00.

According to the buyers, the price of chicken had not changed from that of last year.

Madam Belinda Bakah, a trader, said "the market is slow but people are buying what they need".
