Kumasi to host INDUTECH

Kumasi, Feb. 25, GNA - An industrial and technology fair (INDUTECH) would be held in Kumasi from April 13- April 20 to showcase the industrial potential of the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions. The fair is being organised by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI).

It is on the theme: 93Promoting made in Ghana goods and industrial technology." Nana Owusu Afari, President of the AGI, made this known at the officia= l launch of INDUTECH in Kumasi.

He said the goal was to create an opportunity for local businesses to become more competitive. The AGI over the years has been organising exhibitions in the West African sub-region to assist local industries to compete favourably with their foreign counterparts. Nana Afari complained about the influx of poor quality imported goods onto the Ghanaian market and said this was inhibiting the growth of the local industries.

It was therefore important to step up the campaign to promote made in Ghana products, he said.

Dr Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Ashanti Regional Minister, in a speech read on his behalf, re-affirmed government's determination to create the right conditions to grow small and medium enterprises. This would go a long way to open job opportunities for the people. Nana Owusu Nyanin, Kwamohene, who represented Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, encouraged local businesses to take advantage of the fair to exhibit their products.
