Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has been introduced as Patron of the Ghana Job Bank (GJB) initiative.

The colourful unveiling of Mr. Kufuor, which was held at his residence in Accra yesterday, attracted many dignitaries.

Ghana Job Bank – a subsidiary of EON3 Group – is a social media and digital marketing initiative that seeks to create employment opportunities for the youth.

Under the initiative, which is divided into two sections – Business Incubator and Ghana Smart Youth – Ghanaian youth are expected to be mentored on entrepreneurship and trained in software engineering, open-data platform system, among others.

Those who are to benefit from the ‘Ghana Smart Youth’ module of the project are expected to be offered internship programmes in Dubai, India and the United States.

Former President Kufuor, who accepted the new role, observed that the introduction of the initiative was timely, considering the high unemployment rate in the country.

“The only way to overcome poverty is to create wealth and to do that, the youth must be smart,” according to him.

He commented, “I expect this Ghana Job Bank initiative to ultimately lead to a tremendous creation of citizens-owned means of economic production in this country to be the pivot of the economic takeoff of our nation, starting with our young people.”

Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori Atta, Founder of Ghana Job Bank and Executive Director of EON3 Group, indicated that outdooring former President Kufuor as Patron of Ghana Job Bank followed his launch of the Ghana Business Incubator Centre (GBIC) – a hub for students who want to learn for the job market, in Kumasi in 2012.

He maintained that through the initiative, over 100,000 young people would be working by the beginning of 2022.
According to Mr Ofori Atta, Mr Kufuor has been very supportive of the cause of the GBIC since he launched it.

He claimed that EON3 Group had signed a partnership agreement with the co-founder of Vayuz Technologies, Tejveer Singh, former partner of FCS Software Solution Ltd, a leading IT services company in India and UAE-Africa Mentoring Development Consortium, a G20/G200 award-winning global e-mentoring initiative, as well as Future Africa Foundation, to train students in social marketing for the job market.
