Kasapreko boss urges local beverage companies to compete internationally

The Founder and Group Chairman of Kasapreko Company Limited, Dr. Kwabena Adjei, has advised local beverage companies not to stay in their comfort zone, but try hard to compete with international brands.

Dr. Kwabena Adjei gave the advice when his company was presenting the Energy Drink of the Year Award to the distributors of the product at a ceremony in Accra.

The product, which was introduced into the market two years ago, was adjudged the Best Energy Drink in Ghana at the 2018 Ghana Beverage Awards. The Ghana Beverage Awards instituted last year, is aimed at honoring best performing indigenous and foreign beverage companies in Ghana for their contributions to the country’s economy.

The business mogul said even though there is quite a number of local beverages in the country, foreign brands appear to dominate the market.

“I have been in this business for 30 years, and I started with five workers, but now have over 300 workers and competing with other beverages internationally because of discipline and commitment,” Dr. Adjei said

He challenged local beverage manufacturers to move internationally and advised them to stop complaining that foreign beverages have taken over the local market.

Dr. Adjei advised businessmen to put in place the right mechanisms and business practices in order not to “give themselves red card in their business investments.
