Henry Kwabena Kokofu has issued a reply to critics who were compelling President Nana Akufo-Addo to release the KPMG audit report on the transaction between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).

It could be recalled that The Fourth Estate publication disclosed some irregularities in the contract and has been calling for the cancellation of the deal.

As a result, the President directed KPMG to audit the transaction.

The firm, after their work, delivered their findings to the President who released some parts of it to the public.

But he (Nana Akufo-Addo) came under intense criticisms for keeping the full report.

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the President finally made the full report accessible to the general public.

A statement signed by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency, explained the reason for the President's decision stating thus:

“In the interest of full transparency in governance, openness, and honesty with the public, has decided to waive the privilege under section 5 of the RTI Act and has directed the publication of the KPMG report in full,” the statement read.

Touching on the matter during a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo", the former Chief Executive of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), Henry Kokofu took a swipe at those who were pressuring the President to publicize the report.

He subtly queried them saying: "those who were calling for the release of the full report, the President has released it. What are they going to use it for?"
