* Giant in Walk with Giants Campaign*
Accra, June 5, As part of their global “Walk with Giants” campaign Johnnie Walker has unveiled their new Ghanaian Giant- entrepreneur Prince Kofi Amoabeng.
The grand unveiling took place at an exclusive whisky cocktail evening at Firefly lounge in Osu in the presence of invited guests including the Board of Directors of Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd, distributors of Johnnie Walker in Ghana.
Speaking to the media at the event, the Managing Director of GGBL, Mr. Peter Ndegwa said, “Johnnie Walker is the world’s most awarded Scotch whisky brand and is globally renowned for the Red Label blend- the most popular premium Scotch whisky in the world and Black label the best selling 12 year old blend as well as their collection of rare, super-premium, blends”.
The Marketing Director of GGBL, Agnes Essah said, “The Walk With Giants campaign, featuring the brand’s iconic Striding Man, celebrates individuals who can be considered ‘Giants’ in their fields and who share their personal stories to inspire others to take the next step on their personal journey”.
Alan McAleenan, Marketing Manager for GGBL’s range of premium spirits, also said “We are delighted to unveil Mr. Amoabeng as the Johnnie Walker Giant for Ghana- his personal story of risk, perseverance and progress will prove an inspiration to Ghanaian consumers who are ready to take their own step forward”.
Prince Kofi Amoabeng is the Chief Executive Officer of UT Bank, the recent recipients of the Johnnie Walker Bank of the Year Award. His personal journey has taken him from military officer to highly-successful, award-winning entrepreneur. His career, with UT Bank as well as other endeavours such as his role on the Council of Enablis Ghana, has been characterised by a desire to encouraging entrepreneurial spirit in Ghana.
His story will join those of other inspirational leaders around the world who have been honoured as Johnnie Walker giants, including Sir Richard Branson, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Manu Dibango and Haile Gebrselassie.
Subsequent to the unveiling, Mr. Amoabeng’s compelling story will be communicated through television, Outdoor Billboards and Press- not just in Ghana but throughout Africa to inspire African consumers to take their own personal step forward and to Keep Walking.
The campaign will also feature a responsible drinking-focused television commercial with a callout to encourage consumers to take responsibility for their future and never drink and drive. This represents an Africa-first for the Johnnie Walker brand.
