Johncom looks to Ghana, Others for growth

Johnnic Communications (Johncom) has started to expand its activities in the rest of Africa, saying its prospects for growth in the mature South African market are limited.

The group said in its annual report its objective is to be the continent’s leading integrated media and entertainment company, according to Business Day.

Johncom opened a multiplex cinema in Kenya in the last year, and plans to expand in Nigeria, Ghana and Zambia, while its publishing division is exploring new partnerships in the continent, especially in Nigeria.

Johncom owns the Sunday Times, various magazines, and a 50 percent stake in BDFM, as well as interests in publishing, music, home entertainment and retail businesses, the daily reported.
