Lands and Natural Resource Minister, John Peter Amewu will lead a nine-member delegation to South Africa to attract business opportunities in the mining sector.

A statement from the Ministry on Friday, February 2, said the delegation will take part in the 2018 ‘Mining Indaba Conference’ which will be held in Cape Town from February 5 to 8.

At the conference, the Minister will serve as a key panel member in the session on Inter-governmental Forum for all African and Non-African governments, as well as other discussions around investment, transparency and international trade.

“The Hon. Minister will take the opportunity to engage key industry captains on the prospects of mining in Ghana and the way forward for stakeholders while addressing some key challenges in the sector including illegal mining,” the statement said.

The African Mining Indaba conference according to the ministry is the world’s largest mining investment conference and the largest event in Africa.

The conference, however, is dedicated to the successful capitalisation and development of mining interests in Africa.

The Ghanaian delegation includes some staff of the Minerals Commission, Chamber of Mines and the Minerals Development Fund Secretariat.
