John Deere to display at Fagro 2014

Leading U.S manufacturers of agricultural equipment, John Deere Manufacturing Company, says it will undertake field demonstrations during this year’s National Food and Agricultural Show slated for November at the Kumasi Cultural Centre.

The field demonstration, which includes a full range of equipment solutions from land preparation, seeding, crop-care to harvesting, will put on show various forms of agricultural mechanizations and how they are essential to the growth of the country’s agricultural sector.

The Tactical Marketing Manager at John Deere, Kevin Lesser, in an interview, noted that Ghana is a country with huge agriculture potential and John Deere endeavours to be part of this development by sharing their expertise with farmers on how to adopt the proper mechanizations for their farming needs.

“We have the broadest range of equipment solutions in the world for commercial to emerging customers and we will be showing applicable equipment on the field at this year’s FAGRO, focusing on emerging farmers, part-time contractors and full-time contractors,” he added.

Mr Lesser said John Deere will introduce financial options with the company’s financial division, adding that John Deere will work very closely with partner companies like Seed and Fertilizer suppliers to ensure that it builds machines to produce maximum yields with maximum profitability for its customers.

“With mechanization, you can now start to achieve these profitable yields,” he said.

Exhibition Director of the National Food and Agricultural Show, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa said through FAGRO’s partnership with John Deere, farmers and other key stakeholders in the agric sector will update their knowledge about mechanization, which will aid in improving agriculture in Ghana when applied.

“Our objective at FAGRO is to develop our country’s agricultural sector to meet international standards and we hope to move a step further towards this goal with our partnership with John Deere,” she said.

FAGRO will provide a platform for farmers to learn about the latest technologies in agric, network with both international and local investors/exhibitors, as well as advertise their goods and services to over 2,000 visitors.
