Isshad Plus Enterprise launches three products

The Isshad Plus Enterprise, a Ghanaian company that produces cereal meal products for children and adults, on Saturday held a ceremony to launch its products branded “Isshad B-Soya, Isshad Super -Mix and Isshad Morin –Cart”.

The products, launched at the University of Professional Studies (UPS) were made of rice and carrot porridge (Morin- Cart), brown rice and soya beans porridge (B- Soya) and brown rice, carrot, moringa and soya beans porridge (Super- Mix).

Speaking at the ceremony Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Essel, Head of the Food Insurance Support Unit, Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) said the FDA had created an industrial support services aimed at encouraging small scale industries.

He said Isshad’s initiative to produce such products was an opportunity for the FDA to throw its support behind it.

Mr. Essel explained that the FDA’s interest was in the safety of the product since the target group would obviously be children “and so we have to come in and make sure that the operations and the product itself are carried out in a hygienic way.”

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Dr. Afisah Zakariah, Director for Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Ministry of Health, said the products would help address malnutrition, since it had all the needed nutrients.

Mrs. Erasung Hadijah, Isshad Plus Enterprise Chief Executive Officer, said she undertook a sampling study of the products with a target population.

She said upon receiving positive feedback she went ahead to license and certify the products with the FDA, National Board for Small Scale Industries.
