Iron ore deposits in Akpafu-Todzi to be mined

Akpafu-Todzi (V/R), April 11, GNA - Mr Kofi Dzamesi, the Volta Regional Minister, at the weekend said his administration would soon commence a feasibility study towards rejuvenating iron ore mining at Akpafu-Todzi. He said he was hopeful that the study would yield good results to create jobs for the youth.

Mr Dzamesi was speaking during the launch of the maiden Katere Iyi (Iron) festival of the chiefs and people of Akpafu-Todzi in the Hohoe District.

He commended the chiefs and traditional areas for translating festivals beyond the usual merry-making to platforms for the socio-economic development.

Mr Dzamesi called on people to avoid being lured into politics of deceit and cheap political propaganda spiced with lies.

He urged the people to support the programmes and policies of the government to improve on the socio-economic status of all. "We all owe it a duty to leave a legacy for posterity. We may not re-invent the wheel but there are so many things that we can do to bring development to our people".

The Regional Minister asked, "Who would say the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the capitation grant, the School Feeding Programme, the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) among others would bring untold hardship to the people?"

He said it would only take a deceptive propaganda and lies to deceive the people to move from the truth stating "the truth would remain the truth".

Nana Afrifa Akuamoah IV, a chief of Akpafu-Todzi, commended the government for evolving policies and programmes to ameliorate the suffering of the populace and pledged the support of the people. He appealed to government to construct access roads in the traditional area.
