Indian IT Gains Roots In Ghana

A banking technology called i-flex is fast gaining roots in Ghana.

Designed in India by i-flex solutions Ltd., the technology is distributed in Ghana by Compu-Data Ltd., an Accra based information technology provider.

The technology bridges the gap between banks and their customers and enables customers to access their accounts. I-flex business service portfolio include internet and e-commerce solutions, business intelligence, customer relationship management, turnkey software, offshore development centres and facility management services.

Also gaining roots world wide is its FLEXCUBE which lends itself to different scenarios such as bank in a box, product processor, internet application transaction and data base services, bureau services for banking etc.

The company's domain expertise also include foreign exchange, treasury, securities trading, derivatives trading and processing, investment banking, teller applications and home banking etc.

The head of Corporate Marketing of i-flex Solutions, Senthil Kumar announced last week that his company's clientele in Ghana include; Ghana Commercial Bank, SSB Bank Ltd., Agricultural Development Bank, Merchant Bank, The Trust Bank, Metropolitan and Allied Bank and the Prudential Bank.

He said i-flex Solutions and Compu-Data have together connected 16 banks with more than 100 branches and over one million customers.

Kumar said the evolution of financial services in the next few years will play a prominent role in the banking industry.

He therefore urged Ghanaian banks to invest in the new technology to bring down operation cost, while handling large volumes of work efficiently. He said in this era of information technology banks cannot afford to be left behind. According to him in some countries financial institutions are spending huge sums of their revenue on IT and Ghana should not be an exception.
