IMF urges Ghana to control expenditure to check deficit

' Accra , Oct 25, GNA The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday painted a positive outlook for Ghana's economy but warned that government must control expenditure to keep the public deficit under control.

Ms Christina Daesking, IMF Mission Chief, said a combination of fiscal consolidation and monetary easing in 2011 had reinforced a fovourable economic setting and contributed to a robut and broad based performance of the economy.

She said with the start of oil production, overall economic growth is projected to reach 13.5 percent this year and more than eight percent in 2012.
