The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expected to reach a staff-level agreement with Ghana on Friday, October 10, 2025, following the country’s conclusion of its fifth review under the Fund.
The IMF team, led by its mission head, began Ghana’s fifth review negotiations two weeks ago, meeting with the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
Sources close to the Fund disclosed that Ghana has made significant progress under the programme, moving towards stronger macroeconomic stability.

Barring any setbacks, Ghana is expected to receive the final tranche of $385 million from the IMF if the team approves the review.
Ghana’s $3 billion IMF-supported programme, approved in May 2023, seeks to restore macroeconomic stability, ensure debt sustainability, and promote inclusive growth through structural reforms and fiscal discipline.
The IMF’s final review is scheduled for April 2026, ahead of Ghana’s completion of the programme in May 2026.
