Accra, Dec 8, GNA - The Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club is considering forming an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to run the administration of the Club till a substantive Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is appointed.
Mr Thomas Okine is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the club and is part of the newly constituted Board of Directors elected at the Club's Congress about three weeks ago.
His term of office is supposed to be over following the constitution of new Board of Directors with a four-year term as well as the appointment of a CEO and formation of a new Management Board. Mr Commodore Mensah, Chairman of the newly elected Board who disclosed this to the GNA Sports in an interview, said his administration is taking a critical look at the issue, hence the need to conduct proper search for a suitable CEO.
He said, the Board would this time be looking for a full time CEO to run the Club on professional lines so that the appointed officer would be under the full payment of the club.
Mr Mensah added that the Board would among its considerations take a look at individuals who are competent and posses the needed managerial skills especially in football administration and are committed to the cause of the team.
According to Mr Mensah, the Board will soon form a committee tasked with the responsibility of working out the modalities in appointing the CEO for the club.
He said that the appointment of a substantive CEO for the club would depend on recommendations made by the committee to the Board. Mr Mensah said similar measures would be taken concerning the floatation of shares of the Club.
The newly elected Chairman said another committee would be formed by the Board to be assigned with the mission of devising the needed strategies on the floatation of shares.
Mr Mensah is on record to have won the first Premier League title for Hearts in 1997 as well as being the chairman of the Planning Committee that won the first ever CAF Champions League and Super Cup in 2000 and 2001 respectively.
He has since 2000 not been actively involved in the administration of the club till his recent appointment by the Council of Patrons of Hearts onto the Board.
Mr Mensah was elected at the maiden meeting of the newly constituted Board of Directors of the Club last Monday with a total of 16 votes with his main competitor, Harry Zakkour getting six votes. 08 Dec. 05
