ICAG Ghana announces 2006 Financial Journalism Award

Accra, May 6, GNA - The Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana) on Monday announced the 2006 Financial Journalism awards for journalists working with media houses in the country.

A statement signed by Mr O.O. Mills, Publications and Public Relations Manager, said articles for the competition should cover financial, economic and business reports published between January and December 2005. There will be three prizes.

It said the deadline is May 12, 2006 and the winners would be awarded prizes at the dinner/dance of the Institute on Friday, May 26. Areas for consideration would be Accounting/Audit, Banking and Finance, Economics, Management/Corporate Governance, Applied Information and Communication Technology, the Public Sector and Taxation. The statement said the awards are to enhance professional, financial, economic and business reporting, make business language easily understood by the general public and enhance decision-making and hence governance in both the public and private sectors. Each article would be expected to belong to one of the three categories - features, news and analysis.

Each journalist would submit three self-declared best works that should have been published between January and December 2005. Applications from the print media should be in the form of original articles plus a covering letter stating the name, address, telephone number and e-mail address of the competitor. Electronic media applicants should submit a tape/tapes and a covering letter.
