Ho Mawuli estates low cost houses on sale

Ho, June 5, GNA - All 105 low cost houses at the Mawuli Estates in Ho are being put for sale by government to occupying tenants. Under the terms, buyers would make a 20 percent initial payment and pay the rest in three months.

The houses are in three categories, two-bedroom and boy's quarters, 6,600.00 Ghana cedis, hall and a chamber 5,500.00 Ghana cedis and single room, 2,750.00 Ghana cedis.

All the houses have kitchen and lavatories. Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, distributed letters of intent and terms of sale to tenants at a short ceremony in Ho with a caution that the houses would only be transferred into the names of the prospective owners after full payment. Colonel Cyril Necku (RTD), the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, said the process adopted by the previous government to sell 78 of the houses to a private company had been overturned because it could not favour the ordinary worker.

Mr Seth Adegah, spokesman for the tenants, said negotiations were going on with the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing to vary the payment schedule to suit the financial capacities of the tenants, majority of whom are civil and public servants. Mr Isaac Kodobisah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said other houses would be put up for occupancy by public servants.
