High losses recorded on GSE

High losses in the share prices of four major equities on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) on Friday sent the All-Share Index tumbling by 26.01 points.

The market index closed trading at 792.85 points down from the 818.85 points posted on Wednesday.

The change in the year to date finished at minus 8.70 per cent.

Trading, which was active but on a reduced scale, ended at 90,900. Demand was 575,200 while supply was 2.64 million.

Market capitalisation ended at 3,287.55 billion cedis out of the 1,011.05 million issued shares.

In the broader market, five equities experienced price changes, four in the negative and one positive.

Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) the most capitalised equity on the Exchange was the highest loser, with 1,401 cedis to end trading at 22,499 cedis.

Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), was next in line, dipping by 150 cedis to close at 850 cedis per share while Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) also lost 50 cedis to finish at 600 cedis.

The other loser, Guinness Ghana Limited (GGL), was down by five cedis to end 930 cedis.

SSB Bank was the lone gainer of 128 cedis finishing at a new price of 1,800 cedis.
