High attendance recorded at Ghana Home Loans Housing Fair 2014

The November 2014 Housing Fair of Ghana Home Loans, a non-bank mortgage finance institution, has recorded a very high turnout over the weekend during their second biannual event in Accra.

The two-day fair which had 45 exhibiting companies, made up of real estate developers and services, took place on November 15-16 at the forecourt of Ghana Home Loans.

Josephine Acher, a business development analyst at Ghana Home Loans who spoke to GhanaWeb said there was a record attendance of about 1000 people on the first day alone which surpassed their expectation.

“We had about a 1000 people walking through on Saturday and a lot of them were interested in what the estate developers and services had to offer.

“It took a lot of planning and ideas to get people to attend including a special appeal to young people via radio to create awareness about housing and mortgages which might have created interests exceeding our expectation. The feedback from the participating estate developers and services were excellent”, Josephine Archer said.

The second day, which was a Sunday, was not too different as many people attended with their families after church and the venue filled with activities aside the exhibition.

Participants were entertained with music as they went through the 45 stands. A section was created for kids with a bouncy castle installed and free face painting to keep them entertained as well. Ghana_Home_Loans_Fair1
Each stand was branded and furnished as staff of the various companies took people through the various offers available.

A marketing executive of Devtraco Company Limited, George Omari, said despite the slow attendance on the second day, they were optimistic of a sizeable number as compared to the first day.

He said they had quite a number of potential buyers out of the over 150 people who visited their stand and many were interested in their two bedroom house package. Ghana_Home_Loans_Fair4
Also, Moudline Duodua Gyan, a media relations representative of Mohinani Group’s Polytank (Ghana) Ltd, was optimistic the fair would be an added advantage in the sale of their products as people already knew their brand and were interested in other products they offered. Ghana_Home_Loans_Fair9
Lily Yirenkyi of JA Plant Pool, a construction equipment company, was not enthused about the number of people that visited their stand citing the redirection of people’s interests to real estate as the reason.

She called for equal attention to be placed on other service providers in subsequent fairs as they complement the work of the real estate developers.

Companies present at the fair included Salem Estates, NTHC, Trassaco Lands, Myron Investments, Furniture City, Rehoboth Properties, Sintex, Top Kings, Kasapreko, Imperial Homes, Blackwell/ Goldkey Properties, Starlife Assurance, Surfline, Polytank, Triple Protection Services/ Triquest Systems Ltd among others.

The Ghana Home Loans Housing Fair will be held again twice next year.
