The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has endorsed an innovative STEM Education Mini Lab Project, describing it as a practical solution with the potential to transform the teaching and learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in schools across Ghana.
The minister made the remarks after a presentation by 3S Technology on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in partnership with Coderina EdTech on the Adwenpa Project, an initiative designed to strengthen practical STEM education through self-contained Mini Labs equipped with more than 40 curriculum-aligned learning modules for pupils from Primary Four to Junior High School Form Three

"This innovation has the potential to make the teaching and learning of STEM subjects easier, more practical and more engaging. It gives learners the opportunity to understand scientific concepts through hands-on experience rather than relying solely on theory," Iddrisu said.
However, he stressed the need for a thorough assessment before the project is adopted on a wider scale, directing the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Centre for Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS) to evaluate the proposal against existing STEM interventions.
"I have tasked the Director of STEM Education at GES and the CEO of CENDLOS to work with the developers of the project to compare the existing STEM learning resources with the proposed Mini Lab Project. We need to determine whether our current interventions require upgrading or enhancement before taking the next steps," the minister stated.
The Adwenpa Project integrates more than 40 STEM learning modules aligned with Ghana's education curriculum.
The modules are housed in portable Mini Labs and are intended to provide learners with practical experiences that complement classroom instruction across various STEM subjects.
The presentation forms part of the Ministry of Education's ongoing efforts to explore innovative technologies that can improve learning outcomes and equip students with the practical skills needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
