HFC bank opens branch at KNUST

Kumasi, Feb. 19, GNA - The HFC Bank on Tuesday inaugurated its 12th branch on the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi. The inauguration of the branch, according to officials of the bank, was to inculcate the concept of savings among the youth, especially the student population while at the same time providing unique services to the larger university community. Speaking at the ceremony Mr Asare Akuffo, Managing Director of the bank, said the bank had since becoming a universal bank, positioned itself as a major player in the Ghanaian banking industry. He said the intention was to further improve upon the performance of the bank in the growth of asset base, quality service delivery and profitability. Mr Akuffo said more branches would be opened to further bring the services of the bank to the doorsteps of the people. Professor Kwasi Kwarfo Adarkwa, Vice Chancellor of KNUST, said the opening of branches of many banks on the university campus would help bring about competition, which would result in the introduction of efficient services and innovative products to the people in the community. He said a commercial centre would soon be developed on the campus to house shopping malls and business centres and appealed to banks on the campus to assist in the completion of the project. 19 Feb 08
