Gyamfua Ababio elected AGI chairperson Ashanti, B/A

Mrs. Gyamfua Owusu-Akyaw, also known in private life as Madam Afua Gyamfua Ababio, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gyamfua Ababio Investments Limited and the Royal Lamerta Hotel Limited, has been elected the new chairperson for the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions.

She assumes this new position with a great depth of knowledge and many years experience in business and trading.

She has worked as a trader, been in the import and export business, a manufacturer and is now Chief Executive Officer of two flourishing businesses.

She has occupied several leadership positions in her years as a businesswoman and as a Chief Executive. She is a member of the Ghana Employers Association in Ashanti Region, immediate past-President of St. Monica’s Old Students Association, and an exporter registered with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority. She has won several awards in the Best Exporter category of the region.

She is a past student of St. Monica’s basic and secondary schools at Ashanti Mampong, and read Business Administration and Management -- majoring in Economics at the Leicester College in London.

Among her visions is to redefine the Association’s in the two regions, give them a renewed sense of purpose and vigor, expand membership of the Association, and collectively work to address challenges of businesses in the two regions,

She promised to organise pragmatic training for the AGI staff in the region, to among other things equip them to better handle issues of members; forge stronger bonds between members in pursuit of the advocacy role of the Association; work to deepen credentials of the Association within the business community and government; and also make the Association vibrant and strong to be able to play its role effectively in the region.

She is a Christian and married to Mr. Kofi Owusu-Akyaw, an urban planner and a former Ashanti Regional Director of the Town and Country Planning department, and has six children.

Mrs. Gyamfua Owusu-Akyaw will be assisted by Mr. Daniel Agyei, Chief Executive and Chairman of Danny Praise Computers, who was elected as vice-chairman of the Association.
