Govt to re-activate Kumasi Shoe Factory

President J.A. Kufuor has declared the determination of the government to ensure the reactivation of the once vibrant Kumasi Shoe Factory to create employment for the youth.

He, therefore, asked the out-going Czech Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Jindrich Junek, to give all the encouragement and support to the Network Commercial Capital Corporation (NCCC) Ghana Limited, a Czech company, currently engaged in the rehabilitation of the factory

Receiving Mr Junek, who had called at the Castle yesterday to bid the President farewell after a six-year duty tour in Ghana, President Kufuor expressed the willingness of the government to ask state institutions to place orders for the production of footwear by the company.

He congratulated Mr Junek on his successful duty tour in Ghana and said the out-going ambassador had left behind improved relations between Ghana and Czech.

Mr Junek expressed appreciation to the President, the government and the rest of Ghanaians for their friendship and hospitality during his six-year duty tour. In another development, President Mathieu Kerekou of Benin has sent a special message to President Kufuor at the Castle, Osu.

The content of the message, which was delivered by Mr Eric Patrick Gbaka, Special Envoy of President Kerekou, was not disclosed but was believed to have centred on bilateral relations.
