The government is expected to announce a new producer price for cocoa for the 2025/2026 crop season on August 4, 2025.
The announcement will follow the completion of work by all committees tasked with reviewing the pricing structure and after the necessary stakeholder consultations.
However, uncertainty remains regarding the real value of the new price in cedi terms, given the recent sharp appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar over the past few months.
The current producer price is pegged at GH¢3,100 per 64kg bag and GH¢49,600 per tonne.
The government is moving ahead with the new pricing decision ahead of the official opening of the 2025/2026 cocoa season, scheduled for Thursday, August 7, 2025.
Last month, President John Mahama reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring that cocoa farmers receive at least 70% of the world market price.
