Government considering GT, Vodafone probe

Ghana’s government is reportedly considering investigating the sale of a majority 70% stake in incumbent Ghana Telecom to Vodafone last year. The sale, which faced opposition from legislators and only closed after reassurance that Vodafone would spend US$500 million upgrading the network.

The country’s communications minister was quoted as saying that the communications ministry is seeking clarification over whether the deal will deliver value for money for subscribers.
