Government through the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing has received a dividend of GHC100, 000 from the Tema Development Corporation (TDC).
A statement signed by Abraham Otabil, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry on Sunday to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said, the amount was part payment of the outstanding dividend due government.
Receiving the amount in cheque, Alhaji Collins Dauda, the sector Minister, said efforts were being made to amend the LI (Legislative Instrument) that established TDC to enable it operate beyond its current boundary within the Tema Metropolis.
The Minister in the statement commended the TDC for its efforts in supporting government towards reducing the housing deficit, which currently stands at 1.7 million.
He pledged the Housing Ministry’s support to the Corporation and said the dividend would be forwarded to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.
Mr Emmanuel Oko Adjetey, Board Chairman of the TDC presented the cheque to the Minister, which was witnessed by Mr Joe Abby, Managing Director of the TDC and other senior staff of the company.
