Good profiling and marketing can raise Volta's economic attraction

Ho, Aug. 22, GNA - Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, has observed that good profiling; marketing and exploitation of the region's resources could raise its economic fortunes remarkably. He was speaking at the launch of the Volta Trade and Investment Fair, scheduled for November 16-22, this year under the theme, "Volta Region -Investors' Destination".

Mr Amenowode, therefore, charged the various municipal and district assemblies and other stakeholders, including exhibitors to make the maximum out of the fair, which is expected to attract business people from the sub-region and beyond.

He said they must present good profiles to attract investments into the region. Mr Amenowode mentioned agro-based industry and tourism as areas the region should focus on.

He said food production and processing and small-scale industries, especially, would have big impact on poverty alleviation. Mr Amenowode noted that the tourism potentials of the region were second to none in the country, saying the resources were there in their raw form to be developed.

Mr Dick Commandeur, Eastern Portfolio Coordinator of SNV Netherlands Development Organization, called on entrepreneurs and the private sector to take advantage of the fair to penetrate the national and international markets.

SNV is one of the facilitation agencies of the fair. Togbe Kwaku Ayim, Paramount Chief of Ziavi Traditional Area, who presided, called on the people to desist from chieftaincy and land disputes to pave way for accelerated development.
