Accra, Nov. 22, GNA - A magazine, dubbed: "Golden Ghana" designed to market Ghana's tourism potentials abroad was launched on Thursday with a call on business organizations to patronize its advertising columns.

The magazine, which would mostly be distributed to passengers on board Delta and Ghana International Airlines, is also expected to promote corporate bodies in Ghana while attracting investors and tourists to the country.

Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Minister for Tourism and Diasporan Relations who launched the magazine jointly with Mr Philip Sowah, Chief Executive Officer of Onetouch and Mrs Bella Ahu, Owner of Traffix Catering Services emphasized the need for Ghanaians to link up with those living in the Diaspora to enhance development. He said the Ministry was planning to organise another homecoming event next year to strengthen the ties between Ghanaians in the country and those in the Diaspora.

Mr Asamoah-Boateng pointed out that human resource development in the tourism sector was key to improving standards in the industry. "Ghanaians must be prepared to reach out to those in the Diaspora," he said, and added that Ghana was beginning to take hold of the leadership in Africa.

Mr Hugh Aryee, Editor of the Magazine noted that to sustain tourism development in Ghana there was the need for practitioners to be exceptionally innovative and resourceful. "The Golden Ghana Magazine is another idea by the Ghana Golden Homecoming 2007 Programme to effectively market and promote Ghana's tourism potentials."

Mr Aryee who is also Co-Chairman of Homecoming 2007 programme explained that the Secretariat sought to facilitate the visit of many people in the Diaspora to Ghana.

He announced that the Secretariat in collaboration with managements of Onetouch and Citi FM had initiated a package to reward people through a text message based programme from Saturday, December 1. "For someone flying five to 10 hours across the ocean to Ghana, the most interesting reading material should be the Golden Ghana magazine."
