GoldBod Task Force unveils first cohort ahead of presidential inauguration

The Ghana GoldBod Task Force has unveiled its first-ever cohort of officers, who have successfully completed their training and are set to be officially inaugurated by President John Dramani Mahama on July 8, 2025.

Speaking to the newly trained officers, GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi emphasised that their core mandate is to help stabilise and strengthen the national currency, noting that their work will have a direct impact on the economic well-being of Ghanaians.

"The creation of the GoldBod Task Force is part of broader efforts to formalise the gold sector and ensure the country maximises the benefits of its mineral wealth," Sammy Gyamfi briefly remarked.

He noted that the officers will soon begin nationwide operations as Ghana intensifies its push to use gold as a tool for currency protection and economic stability.

The Ghana GoldBod is a government initiative launched to manage and regulate the country’s small-scale gold trade, with the aim of increasing gold’s contribution to Ghana’s reserves, reducing illegal gold exports, and supporting the cedi through strategic gold purchasing.
