Glico Pays ?389m Claims to Ghana Telecom

Ghana Telecom has lost seven employees through accidents and illness these past couple of months. Though bemoaning their mournful state, management and staff of Ghana Telecom breathed a sigh of relief and expressed surprise when Gemini Life Insurance Company promptly presented to the bereaved families, a cheque for ?389 million in benefits to cushion them for life.

The payment of the benefits was under the Life Insurance Agreement signed between Ghana Telecom and Gemini Life Insurance under the GLICO Comprehensive Plan in March this year.

The Chief Executive of Gemini Life Insurance Company, Mr. Kwame Acheampong Kyei, presenting the cheque for the claims, told the bereaved family members at a ceremony attended by top officials of Ghana Telecom and Communication Workers Union that GLICO was only showing its nature of meeting claims promptly which has made it a household name in Life Insurance business in the country. "GLICO pays claims within 48 hours" - he stressed.

Mourning with Ghana Telecom over the loss of the seven employees, Mr. Acheampong Kyei assured management and staff of Ghana Telecom that GLICO will honour every word in the agreement especially those concerning illness stressing "The medically-challenged personnel should experience Glico's care for the sick."

With tooth paste smiles, amidst mourning, top officials of Ghana Telecom and the Union in speeches praised the business for the speed with which GLICO paid the claims.

To Managing Director Stein Bjorge, it is a wonderful performance. Human Resource Manager Mrs. Stella Nkansah confirmed the qualities which won GLICO the deal among a pack - prompt payment and innovative product while the chairman of the Communication Workers Union Mr. Abraham Laryea thanked GLICO for sparing Ghana Telecom the task of using their legal department to chase their due claims.
