Ghana has once again taken a bold step onto the global stage with the official launch of the digital and online version of the Supply Chain Management Compendium (SCMPEDIA).
The first book edition was introduced in 2013, followed by a second expanded edition in 2015, and to date SCMPEDIA remains the only known all inclusive supply chain compendium in the world.
This new digital platform now takes SCMPEDIA truly global, making its unique knowledge base instantly available to anyone, anywhere.
Accessible at SCMPEDIA.org, the platform provides thousands of carefully defined supply chain and procurement terms and serves as an indispensable reference for governments, private sector leaders, entrepreneurs, students, and logistics professionals.
By standardising supply chain language and concepts, SCMPEDIA equips current and future decision makers with the tools needed to strengthen manufacturing, advance AfCFTA trade, and accelerate Africa’s industrialisation and long term economic transformation.
Launching the digital platform, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, Deputy Minister of Finance, stated:
“Ghana is proud to lead such an initiative. A well trained and knowledgeable supply chain workforce is critical to the success of Ghana’s 24 hour economy and to the broader resetting agenda for Africa. SCMPEDIA is not only a must have for every Ghanaian and African citizen, it is a strategic resource for anyone committed to building competitive industries and sustainable economies.”
Simon Annan, President of the Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply (GIPS), added:
“SCMPEDIA is a comprehensive resource that connects theory to real world practice. It embodies this year’s theme, Reimagining Procurement and Supply for Sustainable Development and Economic Resilience, and will help governments, businesses, and students alike to make decisions that strengthen supply chains and create jobs.”
Professor Douglas Boateng, Chartered Director, Chartered Engineer, Distinguished Fellow of GIPS, CEO of PanAvest International, and pioneer of SCMPEDIA, underscored the platform’s transformational mission:
“SCMPEDIA exists to democratise world class supply chain knowledge. Industrialisation begins with a shared understanding of supply chain principles. By equipping current and future leaders with this knowledge, we lay the foundation for African countries to add value to their resources, trade competitively, and achieve sustainable economic growth. Both the mobile application and the French version will be available by 31 December 2025, expanding access across the continent and beyond,” he said.

Professor Boateng further emphasised that SCMPEDIA.org is more than a reference tool. It is a movement to empower Africa and the world through knowledge.
With 15 percent of subscription proceeds dedicated to educational support, every subscription strengthens the talent base required to drive AfCFTA, realise the aspirations of Agenda 2063, and build a more resilient global supply chain community.
