It is time to find ground-breaking ways of marketing the concept of Ghana as an attractive destination for investment’ to place the country in a better position for financial benefits in its relations with other countries, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said.

According to him, the plan was in view of the fact that economic diplomacy has steadily made its way to the forefront of Ghana’s policy; the promotion and protection of Ghana’s global economic diplomacy which, he added, must become a major preoccupation in the nation’s dealings with the world.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the Policy Dialogue for Chief Directors held at Gold Coast Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Monday, March 12, 2018.

He encouraged that the promotion of Ghanaian goods and businesses, both home and abroad should be “strategic, vibrant, intentional and internationally competitive.”

Bawumia explained that Ghana’s resources, artistry and culture are some of the most unique possessions that can be found anywhere hence the art of calling the world’s attention to them needs to be completely revamped and revolutionized.

While addressing stakeholders at the meeting, Dr Bawumia noted that “It does not suffice to dream or hope for a prosperous Ghana- a Ghana which is independent of aid, a Ghana that possesses first-rate infrastructure, a Ghana that boasts of adequate social amenities, a Ghana without illiteracy and unemployment, or a Ghana that is celebrated globally for a complete economic revival. Nevertheless, it is our national duty and obligation to be assiduous in the delivery of our tasks to ensure that our collective vision for a better Ghana becomes a reality.”

He stressed that participants have the principal obligation to eliminate mediocrity and ensure hard work and discipline at all times while urging them to instil in their staff a “genuine passion” to serve the country and nurture them into leaders “we can all be proud of.”

Quoting the renowned American writer, Tom Peters, the Vice President said “True leaders don’t create followers they create more leaders.”

He was hopeful that the 5-day discussions would strategically be aimed at educating Chief Directors to equip them with the requisite competencies, skills and knowledge to partake in securing Ghana’s economic future.
