The country’s improved economy makes it a conducive place for the airline industry, says Mr. Philippe Saeys-Desmedt, Vice President, of the Africa and Global Cargo of Brussels Airlines.

“There is presently a high level of economic exchange between Ghana and the rest of the world, and that is good for airline business.”

Mr. Saeys-Desmedt was addressing a press briefing in Accra, following the inauguration of the new Brussels-Accra service by Brussels Airline, on October 26, 2015.

“The launch of this new route is good news for both the growing number of passengers that travel to or from Ghana, and for cargo clients,” said Mr. Desmedt.

He said in addition to offering comfortable travel options between Accra, Brussels airport and Europe, “this connection would also contribute to the growing trade relations between Belgium and Ghana.”

Mr. Desmedt said the flight schedules, allowed for easy connections to many of Brusssels Airlines’ European destinations and the United States, including the UK, Denmark, Germany, France and New York, through Brussels Airport”.

He said passengers on board the Airbus A330 aircraft, which operated the direct flights, would have the choice between experiencing a Business Class with full flat beds, and an Economy Class with ergonomic seats, as well as on demand in-flight entertainment, among several other services.

Brussels Airlines is a member of the Lufthansa Group and a Star Alliance member and the Belgian airline that offers the widest choice of flights to and from the capital of Europe, Brussels Airport.

The company has more than 3,500 employees and 47 aircrafts, operating some 300 flights daily and connecting the “Capital of Europe” to over 80 premium European and African destinations, as well as New York JFK and Washington DC.
