Ghana records $4,97bn in FDI's

Ghana recorded 4.97 billion dollars in Foreign Direct Investments for the first nine months of this year.

This is an increase of 6.42 percent over the amount recorded for the same period in 2008.

The performance according to the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre is the result of effective strategies adopted by the centre and various policy reforms by government.

During the third quarter of this year, a total of 102 new projects were registered.

The total initial capital transfers for the newly registered projects amounted to 18.17 million dollars.

Out of the 102 new projects, 54.90 percent were wholly-owned foreign enterprises.

India topped the list of countries with the highest number of 12 projects followed by China and Britain. Nigeria and Mauritius were the only African nations in the top 10.
