The Minister of State in charge of Climate Change and Sustainability, Issifu Seidu, says the country is taking steps to improve coordination across government to fight climate change more effectively.

During a meeting with the Green Climate Fund delegation on August 4, 2025, the minister announced that the Ministry has established a Technical Working Group to bring together key government ministries and agencies.

The goal, he explained, is to enable different sectors to collaborate more efficiently and take joint action on climate-related issues.

“We realised that to achieve effective collaboration, we needed to set up a technical working group in this office. This group comprises representatives from all the relevant ministries. We sit around one table and review sectoral initiatives together,” he said.

The minister believes this approach sets Ghana apart in the region. While many countries struggle with inter-agency coordination, Ghana is building a system that allows government departments to align their goals and efforts.

He also acknowledged that although international funding for climate projects is becoming more difficult to secure, Ghana is working with partners and preparing to take full advantage of emerging opportunities.

Ghana’s focus on teamwork and coordination reflects its commitment to meeting national climate goals and contributing meaningfully to climate efforts across the region.
