InstinctWave Limited organisers of the 5th Ghana Telecom Awards and the Africa Brand Conference-UK, has announced the maiden edition of the Ghana Construction Awards.

The awards would be held on 27th November, in Accra to honour companies and individuals for their accomplishments and strides in Ghana’s construction industry.

Akin Naphtal, CEO of InstinctWave, said the awards would help showcase the importance of the construction industry to the economy while recognising and rewarding companies, which are pushing new frontiers in the industry.

“The construction sector plays an important role in economic growth. For instance the industry contributed about 11.8 per cent to Ghana’s overall GDP in 2013,”Mr Naphtal said.

He said in spite of the laudable contributions, the construction sector had been overlooked in terms of rewarding innovation and creativity.

“Our goal is to celebrate the achievements of those construction companies who have made it their responsibility to transform the construction industry and advance the country’s infrastructural development.”

Mr Naphtal said there is the need for a concerted effort to reward and celebrate industry players bracing the challenge and fostering new building developments across the length and breadth of the country.

“What we want to achieve with the Ghana Construction Awards is to celebrate and reward hard work, exceptional leadership and innovation in the industry. We are bringing together clients, stakeholders, investors, industry players and experts to network and celebrate in a relaxed atmosphere,” added Mr Naphtal.

The Ghana Construction Awards would also present the opportunity for stakeholders to advocate the industrialisation of the country by way of investments in the area of civil engineering, building construction, industrial construction and residential construction.

“The awards ceremony will not be just another networking opportunity but companies and individuals will have the platform to tell their success stories and accomplishments while showing the way forward for the industry thereby generating valuable synergies,” concluded Mr Naphtal.

Some of the categories to be contested are Consultancy/Land Surveyor of the Year, Consultancy/Quantity Surveyor of the Year, Consultancy/Valuation &Estate Surveyor of the Year and the Cement Company of the Year.

Commenting on this, Mr Akin indicated that the award categories were concluded after careful research based on market intelligence.

According to him, the award categories though not exhaustive of the industry, it cuts across major segments of the industry.

“Our team left no stone unturned in arriving at the shortlisted categories. The research team has been working on this for the past three months and their findings show just how robust the industry is,” he said.
