Chief Director at Global Media Alliance, Emma Wenani, has revealed the key activities shaping this year’s awards scheme, highlighting both industry engagement and public participation as central pillars.
At the Industry Forum of the Ghana Beverage Awards held on Wednesday March, 18, 2026, she revealed that the day marked an important milestone in the awards calendar, stating, “Today we had the second event in our lineup of activities, which was the industry forum. After that we started the voting process.”
Wenani further explained how the organisers are ensuring inclusivity and credibility.
“One of the things that we do for the products of the year, which is the main awards, is the voting,” she said.
She further clarified the structure of the voting system, noting that the general public plays a decisive role.
“The public is allowed to vote for their favourite brand, which encompasses 70 percent, and then the judges take the 30 percent,” she added.
She pointed to the climax of the awards scheme, indicating when winners will be unveiled.
“Afterwards we'll have the main event, which is going to be on 18th of April,” she stated.
Providing details about the scope of the awards, she noted the diversity of categories that will be recognised on the night.
“There we have 22 categories, from water of the year, spirit of the year, international beer, and so on and so forth, manufacturing, CSR, sustainability award, where the different brands are going to be given their awards,” she said.
She also disclosed that organisers undertook an extensive verification process before the forum to ensure transparency and fairness.
“Prior to this, actually prior to today, we had the industry tour. So, all the nominated brands were actually visited in their offices for the judges to be able to see whether what they have put in their nomination is actually true,” Wenani explained.
According to her, the tours allowed judges to assess operational standards and engage directly with participating companies.
“Are they abiding by what they have said they're doing? Are they following the procedure? How is their manufacturing? What are their CSR activities? Just to get more intimate and have conversations with them,” she added.
Wenani emphasised the importance of using the milestone to drive change within the industry, particularly in environmental responsibility.
“Because it's a 10-year anniversary, we are definitely looking forward to having a more grand celebration. But one of the things we really want to focus on is sustainability… because beverages, there's a lot of plastic that gets into the system. So how can we use this anniversary milestone to push the aspects of sustainability?” she said.
