Mobile operators MTN and Millicom recorded respectively a 3% and 0.17% decline in subscriptions over 3Q10. According to MTN, the trend results from the SIM card registration process, which slows down gross connections. Vodafone, Zain and Expresso (previously Kasapa) are yet to publish their numbers but according to the data published by the regulator up to August 2010, Vodafone subscriptions also declined in July and August 2010. In the meantime Expresso and Zain were still recording growth. SIM registration was introduced on July 1st 2010 in Ghana.
