GT Unveils Prepaid Calling Card System

Ghana Telecom will today unveil its pre-paid calling card facility that can be used to make calls on all GT fixed lines including payphones, by keying in the PIN number after dialing an access code number. The prepaid card comes in different denominations from 15,000 to 75,000 cedis and can be used for international calls on any GT phone.

Users of the prepaid card will not receive any bills from Ghana Telecom and have the opportunity of controlling their telephone calls and budgets. Company officials told Joy News that other packages under its advanced intelligent network services would be launched alongside the prepaid service.

It includes a toll free line service otherwise called the advanced free phone service. Toll free lines 1- 800, allows for companies and other bodies to receive calls at their expense, without the caller having to pay for the call. Toll free lines are useful for customer service and helps subscribing companies in consolidating brand identity.

The other service is the GT premium rate service that allows companies or institutions to have paid-for information about their business or activities loaded unto a particular telephone line to be accessed by the public, a kind of telemarketing.
