GSE Index loses grounds on loss of several equities

Accra, April 23, GNA - The GSE All-share index, the benchmark measure of performance of the Accra bourse, continued its slide with the loss of value of several equities in Thursday's trading. The index closed down by 14.64 points at 8,982.03 from 8,996.67 points at the previous close.

Change for the year to date now stands at -13.90 per cent. Shares that changed hands climbed marginally to close at 53,500 shares from Wednesday's close of 35,100. Market capitalisation closed the session down at GH¢17,867.76 from GH¢17,878.41 million.

On the broader market, there were four price changes - all negative.

CAL Bank lost GH¢0.01 at GH¢0.32; Fan Milk Limited was poorer by GH¢0.30 at GH¢3.40; Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited lost GH¢0.01 at GH¢1.79 and SG-SSB lost GH¢0.01 at GH¢1.13.
