The Board Chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Joe Ghartey, has announced that the Authority has surpassed its revenue target for the first three quarters of this year.

He described this achievement as 'historic,' noting that despite being an election year, the Authority has effectively collected revenue.

Speaking at the launch of the Citizen App in Accra, Mr. Ghartey commended all GRA workers and encouraged them to continue their efforts for the country.

"We have exceeded the target for the third quarter and also surpassed the target for the first three quarters of the year. This performance represents a 38.6% increase over the same period in 2003," he stated.

During his speech, Ghartey congratulated everyone involved in this success, including dignitaries like Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He highlighted that the success in tax collection this year was achieved through a more business-friendly approach, as opposed to the harsh methods used in previous years, which were seen as harassment.

Ghartey mentioned that GRA utilized education, engagement, and digitalisation to exceed its revenue collection target.

He emphasised that the introduction of the Citizen App will have a positive impact on Ghana's future and will contribute to improved tax collection.
