GPHA trains frontline staff on coronavirus prevention

The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, after a month-long sensitization campaign of the general port community on the deadly coronavirus, has taken the awareness program a notch higher, by training front-line officials who directly encounter travellers to the port, as part of preventive measures.

According to the World Health Organisation, there is now a total of 95,265 reported cases of COVID-19 globally, and 3,281 deaths.

With African countries like Nigeria, Togo, Senegal, South Africa among others recording cases it has become imperative for Ghana to intensify its preventive measures at all entry points to the country.

It is as a result of this that the team of GPHA health services department sensitized members of the Marine Operations Department, Fire and Safety Department, the Transport Department and the Tema Shipyard.

The frontline staff of the Authority were taken through appropriate hand washing methods and special emphasis was laid on the use of protective clothing especially nose masks and gloves, during their dealings in the port.
