President John Dramani Mahama has assured exporters that the expansion of the Ports of Ghana, both Tema and Takoradi is part of government’s efforts to expand infrastructure so as to blossom their business.

The President in a speech read on his behalf by Mona Quartey, Deputy Minister of Finance at the 24th President’s national awards for export achievement 2016 said government was committed to providing an enabling environment for export to thrive.

He noted that the introduction of the Ghana national single window last year has led to a 14.8 percent rise in revenue collection by the Ghana Revenue Authority.

“I wish to reiterate that the Single Window is a positive development for international trade operations and that it will position our dear country to achieve its vision of a diversified economy and an effective revenue collection,” he said.

The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Murtala Mohammed stressed the need for exporters to benchmark their work against international best practices so as to attain success.

“I wouldn’t want to be a patriotic citizen in vain and that is why we helping through such interventions to build the capacity of our entrepreneurs, to build the capacity of a lot of you and I will urge you to take advantage of those facilities that are provided at the Ministry of Trade so that you can enhance on your capacity, improve upon the quality and the standard of the goods that you have produced,” he said.

West blue consulting, the technical support providers for the Ghana National Single Window won the export services company for its efforts in facilitating trade in the country.

The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and the Ghana Community Network Services (GCNet) where honored for their efforts in facilitating trade in the country.
